Determining Solubility Parameters of Bacterial Cellulose Through Energy of Adsorption

Join us on 19th February for an insightful webinar exploring the application of Inverse Gas Chromatography (IGC) to determine solubility parameters and enhance material dispersion strategies. This session will delve into how a thermodynamic approach can be used to estimate Hansen solubility parameters, with a focus on nanocellulose dispersion in organic solvents.

Recent research has demonstrated that while water is often considered the optimal dispersing medium for bacterial cellulose (BC), alternative solvents such as ethyl acetate, acetone, and ethanol-water mixtures can offer superior dispersion quality, leading to enhanced material performance. Notably, an ethanol-water mixture was found to significantly improve aerosol particulate filtration efficiency, outperforming BC coatings dispersed in water. This webinar will discuss how IGC can provide deeper insights into solvent-material interactions, enabling improved applications in coatings, filtration, and beyond. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore the power of solubility parameters in optimizing material performance!
